TANZANIA SAFARI FAQ’S
The sheer range of plants and animals is what makes Tanzania and Kenya such a standout safari destination in Africa. This part of East Africa offers an incredible abundance of wildlife, dramatic natural landmarks, towering mountains, lush rainforests and plenty more. A Tanzania safari tour can easily turn out to be the best time of your life. Travelers send us many questions about visiting these remarkable places, and we have tried to answer some of them in the Tanzania Safari FAQs below:
FOOD ON SAFARI
Is it okay to eat salads, and fruits and drink water?
Tap water in Tanzania is not safe to drink straight from the faucet. Salads and fruit, though, are fine to eat. Keeping to a healthy diet helps you steer clear of medical problems, and you can enjoy all kinds of fruit here, since it is generally safe.
Can special diets be accommodated?
Special diets come up in most of the Tanzania Safari FAQs we receive, along with the question of whether Map Adventure Safari offers them. To make this work, we ask our clients to let us know their food requirements well in advance. Whether you are vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free or need diabetic-friendly meals, we can arrange it comfortably for you. It helps a great deal if you mention your dietary needs when you book your safari.
Are there a lot of bugs in Tanzania?
Yes. As in any tropical country, Tanzania is home to plenty of bugs, insects, and mosquitoes. To protect our clients from these unwelcome residents, every hotel and tented camp room is sprayed with insect repellent. It is still wise to bring your own insect repellent when you travel to Tanzania.
What's the food like on the safari?
Tanzanian cooking is a tasty and surprising mix of Swahili flavors with the best of western, Arabic, and Indian cuisines. Many foreign rulers and travelers passed through this country in the past (it was part of the Silk Route), so you can taste almost every culture in the food. We will give you a personalized experience of Vegetarian, Vegan, Dairy-free, Gluten-free, and other special dietary needs, provided we hear about them in advance.
What can I expect to eat & drink on safari?
Breakfasts on a Tanzania safari are usually buffet-style "British" breakfasts, with omelets, potatoes, bacon/sausage (closer to a hot dog), toast, cereals, and so on. Lunch tends to be cold chicken, yogurt, juice, hard-boiled eggs, raw veggies, and a baked cake or cookie. At dinner, you will be served meat, potatoes or rice, and vegetarian dishes.
