Getting to Tanzania from Australia: Flights, Visas and Trip Planning

How to plan a Tanzania safari from Australia: flights, visa rules and logistics

No major departure point sits much farther from Tanzania than Australia, and the flight paths show it. Most Australians reach Kilimanjaro by connecting in Doha, Dubai, Singapore or Johannesburg. Expect a serious long-haul journey, usually with at least one full overnight connection. An e-Visa is generally required for Australian passport holders, and it's wise to apply several weeks before you leave and not at the last minute. With such a long trip to make, most of the Australian travelers we work with don't come only for a safari. They turn it into a longer regional journey, often adding time in Zanzibar or continuing on to Cape Town, so the long flight is put to good use. For Australians, then, the question isn't whether a short trip justifies the flight. It's how much more to build around the safari, since you're making the journey anyway. Our visa guide is a good first stop, or get in touch and we'll help plan a longer combined itinerary.
