Getting to Tanzania from The UK: Flights, Visas and Trip Planning
How to plan a Tanzania safari from the UK: flights, visa rules and logistics
Few countries outside East Africa have easier flights to Tanzania than the UK. From London you can fly to Kilimanjaro by way of Amsterdam, Doha or Nairobi, and in some seasons there are near-direct choices too, so the trip is far more manageable than it is for people coming from farther away.
A Tanzania e-Visa or visa on arrival, valid for most standard safari lengths, is typically open to UK passport holders. Since the flight is shorter than from the Americas or Australia, 7 to 10 nights is a common length and never feels rushed. That's plenty of time to link a Northern Circuit safari with a few days on Zanzibar's east coast, and because the logistics fit together so neatly, we arrange this pairing often for UK travelers.
Thinking about how long to be away? Departing from the UK leaves you more room than most starting points to design the trip around what you actually want to see, rather than around keeping travel days to a minimum.
Visa application details are in our visa guide, and our guide to combining a safari with Zanzibar is worth a read too.
