Visiting Tanzania in June: Climate, Animals and Visitor Numbers
What a June safari in Tanzania is really like
June brings the dry season back in earnest, along with the first river crossings of the migration. The Grumeti River crossings in the western corridor typically start this month. They are a real river-crossing spectacle, and you will share them with noticeably fewer vehicles than at the better-known Mara crossings later in the year.
Dry conditions make road travel between parks much easier and more comfortable than in the rainy months, which matters if your itinerary spans more than one park. This is also when demand starts to climb, and prices climb with it. June sits at the very beginning of the high season instead of the middle of it, so if this timing suits you, book ahead of the July-September rush.
If you'd like to see a real migration river crossing without the peak-season crowds of the Mara, June and the Grumeti deserve serious consideration.
