Visiting Tanzania in November: Climate, Animals and Visitor Numbers

What a November safari in Tanzania is really like

The short rains arrive in November, and the Serengeti you find is quite different from the dry months before it. The plains refresh and turn green fast, and the migration responds by heading back toward the south, retracing its route ahead of the calving season in January and February. Tourist numbers on the Northern Circuit are among the lowest of the year now, and camp rates fall noticeably from the June-September peak. That is a real opening for travelers who can tolerate the occasional shower in return for lower prices and fewer other vehicles at every sighting. It is also an especially good month for photography: dramatic rainy-season skies, plus the first newborn animals appearing before the main calving rush, give you material very different from the dry-season months.
