Visiting Tanzania in September: Climate, Animals and Visitor Numbers
What a September safari in Tanzania is really like
The migration has usually settled into the northern Serengeti by September, near the Kenyan border, and the weather across the region stays dry and steady. It's arguably the most consistently dependable stretch of the whole year for straightforward game viewing.
Prices stay at peak-season levels through September because demand rolls over directly from July and August, though the most popular camps and crossing points are usually a little less crowded than at the height of summer. If you want the dry, predictable conditions of July and August without quite as many vehicles everywhere you go, September merits serious consideration.
With the herds sitting close to the border at this time, it's also a strong month for pairing a Serengeti safari with a Kenya extension.
