A Guide to Visiting Tanzania with Elderly Parents
Honest, practical guidance from Map Adventure Safari
Traveling with older parents on a Tanzania safari is mostly about setting the right pace, and the experience itself needn't be watered down. Choose lodge-based itineraries with shorter driving days, which tend to be easier than long overland camping routes. Those routes can involve long stretches on rougher roads that you can skip if comfort comes first.
Parks differ in how well they suit this. Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire both offer excellent game viewing without the long off-road drives that some Serengeti routes require, so either can anchor a gentler trip.
Before booking, the best thing you can do is tell us about any specific mobility needs. Vehicle type, camp layout and how much walking each property involves all differ quite a bit, and fitting those details to actual comfort needs, instead of guessing, decides whether the trip works out.
