Adding Zanzibar Beaches to the End of a Safari
Adding Zanzibar Beaches to the End of a Safari
How to blend this with a Tanzania safari
Ending a Tanzania safari with a Zanzibar extension is one of the most natural choices, and the logistics are easy. Short flights link the Serengeti and Arusha straight to Zanzibar, so you avoid a long and needless road transfer back across the mainland.
Where you stay on the island depends on what you want. On the east coast, Paje and Jambiani suit swimmers and kitesurfers with a calmer, more active beach scene, while Stone Town is better for travelers who care more about history and culture than time in the water.
Most travelers find that 3 to 4 nights is enough to unwind after an active safari schedule. It's long enough to shift gears completely, yet it won't turn your whole trip into a beach holiday if wildlife was the main draw.
