Overview
Over 9 well-paced days, this itinerary brings together Uganda's core wildlife experiences. You will trek for gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, join savanna game drives in Queen Elizabeth National Park, and track chimpanzees in Kibale Forest, so one country delivers three different encounters.
A Uganda safari feels quite unlike the open-plains game drives of Tanzania. Think lush, hilly, forested terrain with more emphasis on primates, plus classic savanna wildlife such as lion and elephant where Queen Elizabeth opens up.
Since gorilla permits are limited and sell out far ahead of travel, allow a reasonable lead time when planning this itinerary.
For background, see our overview of a Uganda safari. To find out whether gorilla permits are available on your dates, get in touch.

Day by Day (9 days)
After landing at Entebbe International Airport, you drive on to Jinja, the source of the Nile River, and stay the night there before tomorrow's activities.
Spend the morning white water rafting on the rapids of the Nile, then unwind in the evening on a sunset cruise along the river.
Head for Murchison Falls National Park, stopping on the way at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary -- among the few places in Uganda where you can see white rhino.
Begin with a morning game drive through Murchison Falls, then in the afternoon take a boat cruise on the Nile toward the foot of the falls themselves.
The route heads south to Kibale Forest National Park, among the best places in East Africa to track chimpanzees. You stay the night close to the park.
Spend the morning tracking chimpanzees through Kibale's forest, which has one of the highest primate densities in Africa. The afternoon is free for resting before the drive south.
Continue to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Uganda's premier gorilla trekking destination, where you will be briefed on the next day's trek.
A guided trek through thick forest leads to a habituated gorilla family, and you then spend a tightly regulated hour watching them at close range.
Leave early and transfer back through Masaka and Kampala, with time for last-minute shopping, reaching Entebbe for your onward departure flight.
