Fly-In or Road Safari: Which Is Better?
Fly-In or Road Safari: Which Is Better?
A real, practical guide from Map Adventure Safari
The great thing about fly-in safaris is the time they save between parks. On shorter trips, or for travelers who put comfort ahead of the overland journey itself, that counts for a lot. If your schedule is tight, flying can turn a rushed itinerary into a relaxed one that visits the very same parks.
With a road safari, you swap that saved time for scenery and the chance of unplanned wildlife encounters on the way. A transfer by road isn't just wasted hours, and many memorable sightings come en route instead of during an official game drive.
For most well-built itineraries, the answer is both. Fly to the truly remote parks, where a road transfer would swallow a disproportionate part of your trip, and drive between parks that sit closer together, where the trip itself adds value.
