Overview
Starting in the magical Ndutu area, this 7-day itinerary moves on to the Serengeti itself and finishes at the Ngorongoro Crater, an equally memorable but very different setting. That makes three distinct wildlife experiences in a single, well-paced week.
Expect close encounters with wildebeest, zebra, lion and a wide range of other Serengeti wildlife along the way. Travelers who prefer a step up from standard camping accommodation can also take this itinerary in our comfort tour style.
Our Ndutu guide explains what the area offers, and you can contact us to book this itinerary.

Day by Day (7 days)
When you arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, one of our experienced driver guides will be waiting to welcome you and take you to Arusha and the hotel you selected. On the way he will introduce you to this wonderful city and country.
Your adventure starts today after breakfast at your hotel. We drive north and west, showing you the wonders of the Tanzanian landscapes on our way to Ndutu in the south-eastern part of the Serengeti. The drive covers around 280km and five hours of changing scenery before we reach our destination. Nature and its rainfall decide exactly where the migrating animals will be in winter, but Ndutu is a dependable base at this time of the year and gives us the best chance of tracking the animals.
After a first taste of the area the previous afternoon, you now have a whole day in the Ndutu region to watch all kinds of wildlife ‘on the move’ with your expert driver-guide. Every day is different here, though our focus is of course the Great Migration, the unique natural wonder in which literally hundreds of thousands of animals make their yearly journey across the plains.
Today we carry on from the edge of the Serengeti into its very heart, but first we take one last morning game drive around Ndutu, where something new is sure to turn up. Then the Serengeti calls, and we keep heading north and west into what is surely the world's greatest park.
This unmatched place can at times hold over 1.6 million herbivores and the thousands of predators that hunt them. Their fascinating habits and habitats are bound to raise questions, so ask your driver-guide to explain the remarkable creatures all around you. Back at your accommodation at night, the sights, sounds and smells of Africa keep enchanting you on this wilderness adventure.
Accommodation: Serengeti Tortilis Camp
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Picnic lunch box, and Dinner
Waking up in the Serengeti is something truly special. The sights, sounds and smells of Africa surround us, and a full day of adventure lies ahead in the world’s most famous national park. After breakfast we begin with the morning part of our game drive in Serengeti National Park, enjoying the magnificent scenery, the ever-changing light and the endlessly entertaining wildlife, all explained by your expert driver-guide.
The exciting sounds of Africa wake you up. We make the most of the day, starting at 08:00 with a morning game-drive. After that, the adventure carries on as we travel up to Ngorongoro, another African icon.
Although today may be ‘departure day’, there is still plenty of time to enjoy one more true spectacle before you start thinking of home. Ngorongoro Crater is frequently called a wonder of the world, and your early morning game drive shows why.
